Buttons & Booties: How to Make a Cot Sheet Set

Our sheet set is really starting to come along. Parts 1 and 2 of this series have seen us complete a cot valance and a fitted cot sheet and today we will be venturing into the world of Top Sheets! Similar to last week, this is also a quick and simple project, that shouldn't take any longer than 45 mins to complete. Hopefully, by the end of the tutorial, your little one's cot is really starting to look amazing!

You will need both your plain and patterned fabrics from part 1 in the series, along with the contrasting ribbon and thread.

1. Cut a panel from the patterned fabric that measures 40" x 46". Hem the two longer edges and one shorter edge by folding a the edge over 1/4" and pressing. Fold over another 1/4", iron, pin and then sew in place.

**Hint: For a tidier finish, do the two longer edges first and then do the short edge.

2. Cut two strips from the plain fabric, measuring 40" x 4.5".

3. Place right sides together and using a 1/4" seam, sew the two shorter edges and one long edge. Trim the corners and turn in the right way.

4. Place the open edge of the plain strip against the un-hemmed edge of the patterned fabric (right sides together). Using a 1/4" seam, join the closest plain strip to the patterned fabric (Do not attach both pieces of plain fabric to the pattern fabric at this step). Iron the seam flat.

5. Turn the sheet over, so that the right sides of both fabrics are facing up. Fold the bottom edge of the plain fabric strip over by 1/4" and press flat. Pin to the pattern fabric. Using a 1/4" sew in place.
