Today, we are going to tackle part 2, of our 4 part series, on making a Cot Sheet Set. Last week, we made a Cot Valance and today we are going to make a coordinating fitted Cot Sheet. Good news.....today's tutorial is a very quick and simple one, which should take you no longer than 30 minutes to put together! So there are no excuses!!
1. The fitted cot sheet will only use the plain fabric, which we purchased in preparation for last weeks Cot Valance as well as 2m of skinny 1/4" elastic. You will need to cut a panel of fabric measuring 45" x 67".
2. Fold the edges of the fabric over by 1/4 " and press. Fold over by another 1/2", press and pin in place. This creates a casing for the elastic. Sew down this casing, but ensure you leave a 2" gap to insert the elastic. **Hint: Mark this gap with pins so that you don't forget.
**Hint: Make sure you maintain a 1/4" square seam when sewing the corners, otherwise you won't be able to thread through the elastic!

3. Insert the elastic and feed through until it comes out the other end. Sew together the ends of elastic (using a strong zigzag stitch or similar. Sew the casing closed.
**Hint: Use a safety pin to help you guide it through the casing. This is the most time consuming part.
Finished! I told you it was easy ;).
Keep in mind though that fitted sheets don't need to white, or even a plain fabric. Try experimenting with fabric types, patterns and colours. I've also made a polka-dot version of the fitted sheet and I'm going to make a bright yellow one, to match the ribbon in the valance!
